AS A PRIVATE institution, the University of Baguio is fully aware of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the citizens. The institution knows very well that the practice of CSR promotes public interest by encouraging and playing a part in community growth and development. But more than the observation of its corporate duties is the University’s drive to promote the family values of generosity and benevolence that the founders and succeeding generations have been banking on.
It is for this reason that UB has extended its support to the Municipality of La Trinidad by granting sponsorship to 16 youths that were endorsed by the La Trinidad local government unit. A memorandum of agreement was then inked between the institution and the municipality regarding the accommodation of these government scholars.

The 16 scholarship grantees are the new additions to the numerous students that were and are unselfishly assisted by the University as scholars in the fields of sports, arts, music and academics. Various scholarship grants are being offered yearly to deserving students.
Aside from privileges that are given to students who are recommended by LGUs, like Natonin and Sagada and the Provincial Government of Benguet, aspiring scholars can also avail of tuition discounts when they qualify as UB Stars (University of Baguio Student Tuition Assistance Recipients).
The UB Stars is a scholarship is open to incoming freshmen students. All they have to do is take the qualifying exam in order to be eligible for the grant. This program also includes entrance scholarships for students who excelled academically during their senior years in high school.
Service grants are also given to student assistants, security marshalls, members of the choir and dance troupe, athletes and UB models.
All University scholars get to enjoy as high as a hundred percent tuition discounts, depending on the scholarship bracket that they were able to pass. A maintaining average is observed for them to continue enjoying the privileges until graduation.
The University’s utmost support to deserving students who are determined to finish their degrees but are not that fortunate to do so is truly commendable. Indeed, it goes beyond the mere practice of CSR.
